Installing an eSIM (One UI)

Preparation

  1. Carrier-unlocked phone — check in Settings
  2. A Wi-Fi connection is needed
  3. Update One UI to the latest version

With a QR code

  1. Open: Settings → Connections → SIM manager
  2. Tap: Add eSIM
  3. Choose: Scan carrier QR code
  4. Scan the QR code with the camera
  5. Confirm the installation
  6. Wait for the profile to download
  7. Name the profile

Manual installation

If the QR code doesn't work:

  1. Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM
  2. Tap: Enter activation code
  3. Enter the SM-DP+ address and the activation code

Dual SIM settings (One UI)

After installation, One UI asks you to set the SIMs' roles:

Mobile data

Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Mobile data → select the eSIM

Calls and texts

Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Calls / Messages → select the physical SIM (home number)

Turning on data roaming

Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → select the eSIM profile → Data roaming: On

Important: Turn data roaming off for the physical SIM!

Galaxy Z Fold / Z Flip special notes

On the foldable Samsung models, setup works the same way as on the S series. A few tips:

  • On the Z Fold you can access the SIM manager from the external display too
  • On the Z Flip the cover display doesn't show SIM management — set it up on the inner display
  • All the foldable models support dual SIM (physical + eSIM)

Troubleshooting

The 'Add eSIM' option doesn't appear

  • Check the model number: not supported in every region
  • Update One UI
  • Dial *#06# — if there's no EID line, your phone isn't eSIM-capable

The QR code won't scan

  • Increase the screen brightness on the device showing the QR code
  • Try holding it closer/further away
  • Use manual entry (SM-DP+ address + activation code)

No internet in the destination

  • Check that the eSIM is selected as your data connection
  • Turn on data roaming for the eSIM profile
  • Restart your phone
  • Check that the phone is connected to the destination's network: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Network operator

Summary

Setting up an eSIM on Samsung Galaxy phones is simple: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM → scan QR code. The most important thing: select the eSIM as your mobile data connection and turn on data roaming. The whole process takes 2–3 minutes.
