The Complete List of eSIM-Compatible Phones in 2026

The most important condition for using an eSIM is that your phone supports the technology. The good news: most smartphones made after 2019 are already eSIM-compatible. But not all of them — which is why we've put together the complete list.

Apple iPhone

Apple was one of the first manufacturers to introduce eSIM in consumer phones (2018, iPhone XS).

How to check compatibility

On iPhone:

  1. Go to SettingsGeneralAbout
  2. If you see an 'Available SIM' or 'eSIM' field with a long string of digits, your phone is eSIM-capable
  3. Alternative: SettingsMobile Network → look for an 'Add eSIM' option

On Android:

  1. Go to SettingsNetwork & internetSIMs
  2. If there's an 'Add eSIM' or 'Download a SIM' option, it's supported
  3. On Samsung phones: SettingsConnectionsSIM managerAdd eSIM

Universal check:

Dial *#06# on your phone. If the EID (Embedded Identity Document) line appears with a long number, eSIM is supported.

Key conditions for using an eSIM

  1. Carrier-unlocked phone: The device must be carrier-unlocked. If it's locked to a carrier, you'll need to have it unlocked first.
  2. Internet connection for installation: Downloading the eSIM profile requires Wi-Fi or active mobile data.
  3. Up-to-date operating system: At least iOS 14.1 on iPhone, or the manufacturer's recommended latest version on Android.

What if my phone doesn't support eSIM?

If you have an older device, don't worry — there are alternatives:

  • Local SIM card: You can buy a physical SIM card at the destination's airport or in a shop
  • Roaming bundle: You can use your home carrier's daily or weekly roaming bundle
  • Portable Wi-Fi (pocket Wi-Fi): Rent a small portable router that shares local mobile internet over Wi-Fi
